Terms of service.

Last updated: 20 July 2026

The short version: blok.je turns links into QR codes, be decent with what you point them at, and don't sue us if the internet hiccups. The longer version follows, and it is the one that counts.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover.

blok.je (the "Service") is operated by Robot Kittens B.V., Netherlands ("we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us and cover every use of the Service: creating QR codes and short links, holding an account, scanning statistics, and everything else on blok.je. By using the Service, or by ticking the box at registration, you accept these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind that company.

2. The service.

blok.je wraps a destination link of your choice in a short blok.je address and renders it as a QR code. Blokjes created without an account keep working, but their destination is fixed. With a free account you can claim your blokjes, change their destination, set separate iOS and Android destinations, and see scan statistics. We may add, change, or retire features over time.

3. Your account.

  • You need to be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Actions taken through your account count as yours.
  • Provide a working email address; it is how we confirm your account and reach you about it.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. Deleting it removes your account data, every blokje you created, and their statistics (see section 7).

4. Acceptable use.

You may not use the Service to point blokjes or links at, or to distribute:

  • anything illegal under Dutch or EU law, or the law that applies to you or your audience;
  • malware, phishing, credential harvesting, or anything designed to deceive or defraud;
  • content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or medical condition;
  • sexual content involving minors, or content that exploits or endangers minors in any way;
  • spam, bulk unsolicited messaging, or artificially inflated scan traffic;
  • other people's personal data without a lawful basis;
  • content that infringes intellectual property rights you do not hold.

We may deactivate any blokje, or suspend or terminate any account, that we reasonably believe violates this section, with or without notice. Where practical we tell you; where the content is harmful we act first.

5. Your content and destinations.

The destinations you set, the pages behind them, and any logo you upload are yours: your property and your responsibility. You confirm you have the right to use what you upload. We do not review destinations before a blokje goes live and we are not responsible for what is behind your links. You grant us the limited license needed to store your content and serve it as part of the Service, and nothing more.

6. Free blokjes and claiming.

  • Blokjes made without an account have a fixed destination until they are claimed.
  • Claiming requires the secret claim proof held by the browser that created the blokje. Keep in mind: whoever registers from that browser first, owns the blokje.
  • Unclaimed blokjes that were never scanned may be removed after long inactivity.

7. Deleting things.

Deleting a blokje deactivates its redirect: the printed QR stops working. Deleting your account removes your account data and permanently deletes every blokje you own together with its scan statistics. Both are permanent; there is no undo and no recovery window.

8. Availability, "as is".

We do our square best to keep every redirect fast and online, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any blokje will scan in every circumstance (print quality and phone cameras are, regrettably, beyond our control).

9. Liability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, lost data, or the behavior of destinations behind blokjes, whether yours or anyone else's. For a free service our total liability is in any case limited to €100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law, including liability for intent or gross negligence.

10. Privacy.

How we handle data is described in the privacy statement. The essence: we track scans on your links, never you. Partner emails are only sent if you explicitly opted in at registration, and you can withdraw that anytime by contacting us.

11. Changes to the service or these terms.

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. For meaningful changes we will notify account holders by email or through the Service before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, delete your account and we part as friends.

12. Governing law and contact.

These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes belong to the competent court in the Netherlands, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Questions, notices, or abuse reports: info@blok.je. Abuse reports about a specific blokje are welcome and acted on quickly.
